I had a bunch of questions about the topic before the lesson, but your answers made me crystal clear! Thank you! |

Thank you for a wonderful lesson, John sensei! About the difference between appointment and reservation, I’m clear now. I seem have been always confused how to use these words. So I have an appointment with my chiropractor after work this evening or I need to make a reservation for dinner with my friend when going back to Sendai next week. I’m sorry that you had a tragedy with a naughty dog in your house on weekend but actually that was a funny story. Next will be Lesson23, “How to encourage someone”. See you then! |

It's our first lesson. We talked about lots of things and it turned out that we have the same interests. One of which is yoga. Mono-san and me both have been practicing yoga for many years. We both agreed that yoga worked not only on our body but also on our mind (and spirit!). In the latter half of the lesson we read two short articles. Nice meeting you Mono-san. I really enjoyed our lesson and look forward to seeing you again soon! |

My kids learned about "it" for singular nouns, and "they" for plural nouns. Chris kindly taught them about this rule over and over. My boys understand in their mind that we use "they" for pants, socks, shoes, etc, but when they have to say quickly, they tend to say "it" for those words. It seems they need some more practice so that they get used to it. Thank you, Chris. See you soon! |

Thank you so much for giving me great practice for pronunciation. I need to make correct and fluent pronunciation, therefore, the example text you sent me is very useful to improve my skill. I will read them vocally everyday to get passing score from you. Anyway, you made my day by constructive instruction. Catch you later, Nix ☺ |

Today, we had free conversation. First we talked about memory, when we forget something and the episodes. It was really fun. Then I asked Mark the story of the movie "Scent of the woman" with the leading character, Al Pacino. Mark kindly explained the story in details. I was satisfied that I've grab the reason why the main character boy was forced to go to the disciplinary committee. Thank you, Mark for giving many interesting ideas and inspiring me. See you next time! |

Today, I chose the topic of BBC documenatry film "Japanese Seacret Shame". This incident has not been reported in Japanese media, but around the world, mass media has already reported it and aired the interview with Shiori. I learned how Japanese society is male dominated society and tends to hide sexcial crimes. Furthermore, when the victim tries to speak up the sexcial assalt, some people blame the action. So, the number of victims who go to the polic to report it is very small. Most of the cases, victims give up speaking up because of worrying to have criticism. Is that fair society? I hope to change it to the society that women can speak up freely and actively. Mono-san patiently listend to my speech and corrected words and phrases and organized my idea. Thank you for your flexible and encouraging lesson. See you next time! |

Today, we talked about the issue about social security. In Japan, we have annual pension, public medicare and nursing system for elderly people,,,etc. I tried to explain about good points and bad points of annual pension system. Bryan suggested better words and phrases in my speech and told me the system in the U.S. I enjoyed talking very much. Thank you, Bryan for the enthusiastic lesson. See you! |
