 I learned a few words, acrophobia and agoraphobia. I have both of them. I used to be dare enough to try bunji jumping, but I have acrophobia since then.

We also talked about Typhoon-Hagibis hitting a number of places in Japan. It might take a while to recuperate from the damage of the typhoon. In the areas where they had the typhoon last time, they still had not fixed their roofs and tome people had to find another place to live and move to their new house.

People living in high rise building have special problems.
When electricity goes off, they have to go up flight stairs.

 We talked about the movie directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, 「shoplifters」, movie about an ersatz family. Since they were poor, they stole products from supermarket to overcome poverty. Howevre, they buried the elderly when she passed away and their crimes were revealed. due to their crimes, they eventually went back to their real life.
Also, we also talked about abusing children and bullying teachers, problems Japan is facing.
I learned the difference between appease and placate.
We give charity because it appease my guilt. The company appeased me with the promise that it will do its best to give me advise to improve my website. My husband placated me with flowers and a bunch of presents when he forgot my birthday.

 We talked about the article of the President Trump having allegations that the former vice president Joe Biden pressured Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor and threaten to withhold aid as part of a U.S.-European anti-corruption.

Also we talked about an article that the President Abe signed an infrastructure agreement to link Europe and Asia as a counter to China's ambitious Belt and Road strategy.
