Today We talked about eye disease and eye doctors. In any other countries except Japan there are opticians and eye specialists. In Japan when we have any troubles in our eyes, first we can visit an eye specialist to know what's wrong and to get treatments. But in any other countries including Yk and US,they go to see an optician first. Opticians check not only eye sight but any tests like eye pressure and peripheral vision. Then when the optician find disease, then they tell us to visit an eye specialist. In Japan opticians are not allowed to check someone's eyes aside from eye sight for glasses. Mark told me differences about medical services between Japan and YK. Mark's classes are always great fun. |

In this lesson, we continued reading the article from the last time entitled 'How I found out my husband had married another woman'. There were several unknown words but sometimes I could guess the definition by sentences. Mark helped me understand the article correctly and described each of the vocabulary I was not familiar with. Thank you as always and I'm looking forward to the next time. See you soon! |

Thanks to Mark I learn a lot about Europe and also Enbkish speaking! |

Today's article was about a new drug which suppress our appitite whose aim is losing our weight. Diabetes and heart deseases are till serious health problems and the new drug might sell well. However, such easy solution might make us lazier. It was fun talking and I was surprised to know that about half of UK people are thought to be overweight or obese. Thank you for interesting information, Mark. See you at next lesson. |

Today, we talked about the article "No alcohol safe to drink", whose main point is that drinking a small amount of alcohol might be good to protect against heart diseases, but might be possible to cause other diseases. We sometime are annoyed with such mixed message. There are a lot of different information and we have to carefully choose the best one. "Unit" show the strength of alcohol, originated from the U.K. It's very convenient index to know how we intake the exact amount of alcoholic substance not how amount of drink we had. Thank you for introducing the interesting article and solving my questions and giving new ideas. See you next time, Mark. |
