We read two articles about sports as usual. His lesson is always interesting and fruitful. In addition to English grammar and vocabulary, he teaches me the cultural background of the articles, which is quite useful to me. |

I had a fruitful lesson as usual. I learned nausea, nauseous, get through and white goods. We talked about how we prepare special foods for a special day such as Christmas or new year. Our life has been becoming super convenient but I feel a little bit sad because home-made dishes are much more tasty than ready-made dishes. Thank you, Mark. See you on Monday. |

"Happy New Year" We talked about medical service between Japan and YK. I was surprized when I heard that YK people can take medical services for free. But you have to go to your general practitionner first when you have somerhing trouble on your body. Only in the case he or she found your disease is serious, they'll arrange you to a specialist. Then after a few days the specialist call you to come. On the other hand we can visit any specialists when we want to see a doctor. Countries aside from Japan there is a great difference brtween family doctors and specialists. I think we have very good medical services in Japan. And the bill of the medical cares are much cheaper. But problems are people visit doctors too often even though they don't need it. Or,doctors can accept patients even though they are not sick. The more they accept patients, the more they make money. |

Today, we talked about the article of how to spend the life after retirement. Even for the elderly, working makes them active and positive or volunteering also makes them feel happy. As always, Mark explained me unfamiliar words and expressions such as "well-deserved""entrench""septuagenarian""to get under someone's feet""stand on""lollipop man""hymns""sermon""congregation",,,. He kindly teaches me basic and deep meanings of words and expressions understandably and diverse ideas. Thank you, Mark and see you next time. |

We talked about old photos that had changed to sepia color. Taking photos were expensive in old days. People went to photo stidios or a photpgrapher came to the house to take their familyphotos. It might have been a very special day for them. Now people can be very easy to take photos using thier smartphnes. Maybe they don't see them much. Thenjust forget them. I remember how much imagination I had inflammed from the old phots that were my grandparents'photos taken 100 years ago. I don't think we need much photos. Just one photo is good for my good memories. |

Today, we talked about the article of the case that Huaway's CFO was arrested in Canada. I didn't know Huaway is the second largest smartphone-maker (the largest is Samsung) and I could learn the IT battle among world nations has been heated up and becoming complicated. Mark cleared my unfamiliar words and expressions with understandable explanations. Thank you, Mark for providing me exciting topics as alwasy. See you next lesson. |

His lessons are always very reliable and helpful. I often ask him to review my speech script, and when he finds any mistakes in it he offers me not only corrections but also detailed explanations. His explanations are very clear to me. Thank you for your help, Mark! See you soon:) |

Today, I learned some expressions such as "fall from the roof while cleaning snow","take advantage of--","question authority",,,etc. It's really meaningful that Mark always suggests me different ways of thinking and ideas when I organize my opinions. That's tough, but make me broaden my horizon. Thank you, Mark. See you next time. |

Mark chose me an interesting article from BBC as always. First, he explained my unfamiliar words and phrases such as "labor crunch","overhaul","replacement level","thin it down""scrupulous",,etc. He always kindly teaches the meanings until I fully understand with a variety of examples and different ways. Next time I'm looking forward to having discussion on this article. See you next time, Mark. |

I asked him to review my script for my next toastmasters' meeting. There were several sentences that didn't sound natural and he kindly corrected them. Today I learned a new expression;"half-glass-empty person", and the difference between refuse and decline. I enjoyed talking with him, as usual. See you soon, Mark! |

I talked to Mark about my 4-days trip enjoying hot springs to Tohoku area I had the other day. On the way to the second destination I dropped in "Yamadera" temple. The main temple is at the foot of a mountain. Many other small temples are on the cliffes high in the mountain. I just looked at those temples far away from the road. The view was wonderful and seems like "sacred". We talked about religius topics from "Yamadera". It was an interesting topic to be able to know what it is like in Europe. |
