Great seeing you again, Stewart.
I was amazed to hear that your son's girlfriend is playing for England's national football team, which has been playing a blinder at the Worldcup. I would like to see them and our national team in the final.
In this lesson, Stewart and I delved into British expressions amassed by the Independent that might be tricky for learners. I am always intrigued by the wide variety of slightly insulting and sarcastic British phrases. I reckon that it reflects their national characteristics and that good-natured dark humor would help us to laugh away the absurdity of life.
Another finding was that although the phrases were compiled by Brits themselves, they contained phrases that even British people weren't familiar with. It might be because of the difference in age groups, regions, or gender. Anyway, I am going to continue exploring the world of British English expressions, hoping that teachers help me with the journey.
