We finished reading an article entitled "The real-life objects that inspired Harry Potter". It was difficult to understand by reading once, but Mark explained words and meaning of sentences to help me understand. I was very interested in the content of the article, so it made me want to challenge more. Thank you for the lesson and I am looking forward to the next lesson. See you! |

It was a good lesson as usual. He reviewd my short speech, then asked me a question related to aging society. It was embarrassing that I had only very shallow answer. His answer was deep which impressed me. He is very knowledgeable! What I need is reading to be able to have a persuasive opinion. Thankyou for your advice,Mark! |

Today, Mark showed me an interesting article, "World's children rapidly turning obese" In some countries, the number of obese children has been increasing because of an intake of sugary and fattening food, putting them at a risk of health problems in the future such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain type of cancers. To crack down on the carolie-dense adn nutrient-poor food, so far 20 countries have introduced a tax on sugary drinks. In Japan, the rate of obese children is low, but some young women are underweight and need more nutritious food. It's important for children to care about taking well-balanced food and do enough exercise for their future. Thanks a lot, Mark for fruitful lesson and see you next time. |

Mark, thank you for reminding me that not everyone knows that Seattle is the home of Microsoft! Well, Seattle has other attractions too - you might someday visit the city, and enjoy watching a game of Seattle Mariners, visit the very first shop of Starbucks in the world at Pike Place Market, or go up in the tower of Space Needle. Good place to go, if you like rain. |

Today's topic is 'Should the drinking age in Japan be lowered to 18?' I think the drinking age,20,should not be lowered. I managed to make a speech and Mark gave me relevant expressions to describe my opinions. "no sense of responsibility""make poor decision""could cause social problems such as accidents, public drunkenness or voiolence""less mature",,, He also suggested some persuasive ideas to make my opinions understood. Thank you very much, Mark for your great lesson as always. Thanks to your efforts, I could pass the Eiken test. See you next time. |

Today we talked about the topic "Should parents be able to choose whethere to vaccinate their children or not". Standing the view that all children should be vaccinated, even though there are a little possibility of side effects, vaccination might be obligatory. However, focusing on the tiny possiblity of side effect which might lead harmful aftereffects to the children, I'd like to say vaccination depends on parents' choice. In that case, I think if parents want to refuse vaccination to their children, they have to submit reasonable reasons for it, such as a doctor's letter to prove how the child can't take the vaccination. For example, if some children have allergey and it would be the cause of side effect after vaccination, they don't have to take it. As a result, I feel I should have created my ideas at the point of general view. I might have focused on too specific matters. Thank you, Mark for giving me the thoughful topic as always. |
