I enjoyed today's lesson with Mark. We had a free talk. We talked about our ordinary life in each country. I couldn't prepare for the lesson, but it was a good practice for me to express myself in English. Thank you, Mark. |

We continued reading the article entitled 'The wise words that changed my life' from the last lesson. It was interesting story to read. And there were several words and expressions which were new to me. Mark described each of them so I understand them clearly. Thank you for the lesson and see you soon! |

Today, Mark showed me an interesting article about guideline to limit the amount of alcohole to avoid excess drinking. Mark kindly explained my unfamiliar words and phrases such as "unit" used to presenting alcoholic strength, 1 unit=8 gms of alchol. This is commonly used in UK to compare alchol strength fairly by each kind of alchol. " rest on one's laurels" = to be satisfied with what you have achieved and therefore stop trying to achieve anything new. Furthermore, he asked me inspiring questions about the article to practice organazing my idea. Thank you very much, Mark for your enthusiastic lesson as always. See you next time. |

Mark, I bought the DVD of "Darkest Hour" to watch the movie again. Gary Oldman looked rather cheerful at the beginning of the movie, naturally, with reaching the position of prime minister at last. However, after learning looming danger Britain was facing at Dankerk, he lost his arrogance (& confidence) only to almost give up the fight against Nazi: it is a fact recently revealed, according to historians. That makes me wonder what would happen if Churchill had made peace with Germany, even temporarily, as Chamberlain had insisted. Would be the world a dark world as "A man in the high castle" describes? Or rather, German government might have collapsed after Hitler's death? Interesting questions well up. Imagining "If" worlds always fascinating. |

Today we talked about the article about the controversial Sumo incident which medic women were forced to leave the ring while they are helping the city mayor by CPR rescue. There are many problems in this incidents. We exchanged opinions. Regarding the words, I got interested in the difference between "clean" and "clense". Mark always points out deep meanings of each word for deeply understanding. It's fun. Thank you, Mark for interesting lessons. See you next time. |

Today, we talked about autonomous vehicle technology. After the accident of Uber's driverless car test on the street, Toyota decided to postpone their driverless car test. Do we really need such a car? Do autonomous vehicles have no accident in the future? Mark always chooses hot and controversial topics and gives me thoughtful questions, which make me practice how to organize my idea. Thank you, Mark for giving exciting lessons as always. See you next time. |

In this lesson, I asked Mark to review my next speech that has been brought forward 2 weeks. I was disappointed that there were several words that didn't fit the bill in my speech. I looked up thesaurus to find new words to get rid of repetitiveness, but it didn't work properly. But it was good that I could learn differences betoween synonyms. Thanks, Mark! |

Today's topic is the article about one mother's action to give the lesson to her son who are a little spoiled or entitled. It's an interesting story. Mark explained me unfamiliar words and phrases such as "entitled" "shed" "privilege",,etc. Then he asked some questions and I tried to organize my ideas. That's a good training for me and Mark's suggestions and ideas make me learn how to use words and to structure sentences. Thank you very much for the great lesson as always. See you next time! |
