We read the article about investment. We learned the concept of compounding and three important factors in making investments: goal, time horizon, and risk torelance. I also learned new vocabraries including "one size fits all", "creating in a vacuum", "stomach (means stand)", and "recoup". The lesson was really educational and fun! Thank you Terry. I cannot wait for our next lesson!

In later half of our double lesson, we read an article about investment. Terry explained the meanings of "splurge", "capital", "reap the rewards" and "reading up on". We've read only a few paragraphs of the article so far but we've already found it very interesting and educational. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the article with you, Terry. Thank you Terry. Have a good night!

We talked about my plan for my GW holiday and I explained my parents' restaurant business. I wanted to explain what dengaku was like but it was hard to describe. Dengaku (the main dish our restaurant serves) refersto a food that 's been miso-glazed and grilled. It looks like barbecue but does not include any meat (only fish and vegetables). Later we talked about tipping etiquette in the U.S and Japan. I forgot to mention about tipping habit in Japanese-style-hotel ("ryokan"). Maybe we can talk about it next time.

Today we read an article about neuroscience study about how material structure of the brain determines how you rain affect how you make a risk-taking decisions. Although its title is a bit click-bait, the article was interesting. I learned some good vocabularies such as "dicey" (=risky), "rolling dice" (=taking the chance), "apprehension" (=anxiety),"sculpt"(=form),"fatter prize"(=larger prize), etc. Terry suggested reading an article about investment so that I could educate myself more about it. Thank you Terry. I cannot wait our next lesson.

We read an article about Japanese's cherry blossom viewing. Terry said there was no hanami equivalent event in U.S. I forgot to mention there were even smart phone applications offering food catering service to hanami venues. That is another suggestion how crazy we are about cherry blossoms. It was fun talking to you, Terry. Thank you!

We read an article about President Trump's speech style. The author shows the difference between the speech Trump made when he was not famous and the one he made in 2015. It was an very interesting article and also included a lot of vocabraries: "do a number on somebody" (means to attack someone and do really a good job), "mirror image" (means reflecting who you are), "folksiness" (means being simple, not intelligent, not sophisticated), "buttoned-up" (means being closed and defensive)"stunt" (means being fake),etc. I enjoyed reading the atcile with you, Terry. Thank you!

I asked Terry questions I've got from movies I watched recently. Those cconversational English are difficult to learn by myself. Terry, thank you for explaining the meaning of those expressions. It's really fun learning English from you. I have a couple of more questions, which I am going to ask you in our next lesson. Have a good night!

We read an article about crypto currency. We learned that Japan is now the largest trading market for bitcoin, partly due to the ban on bitcoin by Chinese government. Terry describes it as "shaddy" system. Although both Terry and I don't get into cryptocurrencies, we are interested in learning how they work. So we agreed to read some more articles next time. It's always fun to me to learn things with you, Terry. Thank you for the lesson and I look forward to seeing you next time!
