I had today's class 30 minutes before my dinner. So after the class I was going to my dinner with my husband. He was preparing dishes almost every day. I have been released from making dishes since he retired. I thank him about cooking for me.I have to give compliments on food he prepared, even if it was not delicious. Today's dishes were very delicious, though. Anyway Mark's classes are aiways great. |

In this lesson we finished reading an article entitled 'The FBI said I was my parents stolen baby - but I found the truth'. It was an interesting story. There were several new words and Mark described them for me with clear examples. I could remember the definitions better with the way Mark explained for me than find them on dictionary. Thank you for the lesson and I'm looking forward to the next time. See you soon! |

We talked about the article "Third of farmed fruit and veg deemed too ugly to sell". Unexpectedly, a lot of fruit and vegetables have been discarded which are misshapen and worng size. The reason is that customers tend not to buy irregular size or shaped produces. This trend is also seen in Japan. But, actually quite a few customers don't mind shape and size of produces if the quality is same. To select good fruits and vegs, farmers grow excess produces and spend much energy and logistics become complicated. We should accept such produces which are ugly but have standard quality. Mark explained my unfamiliar words and phrases and suggested the essential points of the article. Especially, I like "wonky" =not straight or level, sounds cool. "go a long way to..",,,etc. Thank you, Mark for the interesting topic as always. See you next time. |

The class for the first time in two weeks was hard for me to even book. Because I didn't not only take the classes, but also did'nt read English textbooks, nor listening to it for over two weeks. But I knew I did'nt have to worry at all. The class was great. Mark relaxed me and I enjoyed the lesson. |

We talked about the article "Japan debates daylight saving to avoid heat". When Mark asked me what is the main problem about adopting daylight saving, I described my opinion, which went off the point. I understood his logical explanation about the reason. I realized grabbing main theme of an article correctly is very important to discuss. Thanks, Mark. See you next lesson. |

Today we discussed the article "The UK's four Brexit options". With the UK on course to leave EU on next March, there are still optional courses for UK's future. From the article, I found there are so many problems for both of UK and EU in process of the Brexit and I wonder UK should have chosen staying in EU. Mark explained to me the examples of potential problems after Brexit. I still have many questions, so asked him to treat this article in next lesson again. Thank you, Mark and looking forward to talking about it. |

Continued from the previous lesson, today Mark checked the latter part of my speech script and corrected it into better one. His advice made sense to sophisticate the script and I could realize some words and phrases I memorized wrongly and correct them. Thank you very much, Mark for helpful advice. See you next lesson. |

Today's article was "Mapping the global heatwave". I learned how many countries have experienced record hot tempreture by global warming, at the same time, a few spots have become cooler than before unexpectedly. Although we need to make much effort to sotp emitting CO2, some economical power doesn't admitt that global warming has caused the climate change because they don't want to restrict economic activities. That's a big problem, I think. Mark always choose me variety of articles I'm interested in and I have fun with discussion with hime. See you next time, Mark. |
