The item we read was about Thailand's foreign ties with China and the United States. Thailand has shifted away from China and toward the United States, joining the United States-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. This is due to Thailand's disdain for China's foreign policies. The train, for example, has made little progress. Thailand has increased its trade imbalance with China, while Laos has completed a debt-equity exchange to satisfy late railway loan payments. Thai authorities see China as encircling Thailand. Thailand declined to replace a submarine's German engine with a Chinese-made one. |
