I appreciate that you led me to answer by asking some good questions. I've totally forgotten that I had some pen pals in my childhood until you asked me about the topic! I knew that British people send a card for so many events.(That reminds me, American people also do that.) I said that Japanese don't have such a culture, but some people might do that actually.
