Profile Updated June 2026. I have a neutral accent and am a native English speaker from Cape Town in South Africa. I am a university graduate with a TEFL certificate. I have been teaching English for the past five years. I specialise in free-talk conversation about whatever subject interests you. Or, if you prefer, we can choose a lesson from the Eigox selection that you might like. My aim is simply for you to enjoy an opportunity to speak English in a relaxed atmosphere. I am a journalist/documentary filmmaker by profession and in addition to my English conversation lessons I also teach documentary filmmaking and storytelling. Once a year I teach a documentary storytelling course (see photo below) at the Film and Media School of the University of Cape Town. This photo was taken on the last day of the 2025 course after handing out course certificates.
I also each year teach aspiring young filmmakers from the Kalahari desert area of South Africa. I teach them how to tell their own personal stories using video and film. This course gives them a voice and the opportunity to tell their stories. This photo was taken on the last day of our 2025 course.
On a personal note my hobbies are photography, filmmaking, reading, and watching movies and series. For exercise I enjoy walking and hiking. A favourite past time is growing rare South African succulents from seed. Here is one in flower—Faucaria Tigrina—now 5 years old.
