2025 was a great year for meeting many new people from Japan here on Eigox and I look forward to meeting many more during 2026. 

I would like to invite you to book a lesson with me and then decide whether we are a good match. I will do my utmost to meet your needs for learning and practicing to speak English in a relaced and fun way.

I have a neutral accent and am a native English speaker from Cape Town in South Africa. I am a university graduate with a TEFL certificate. I have been teaching English for the past five years. 

My lessons take the form of a free-talk conversation about whatever interests you - be it Japanese and/or world politics, economics, history, health or travel. If you prefer I will choose a subject that I think will suit us. My main aim is for you to enjoy an opportunity to speak English in a relaxed atmosphere. 

In addition to English lessons I also teach journalism, documentary filmmaking and storytelling. 

Each year I run documentary storytelling courses (see photo below) at the Film and Media School of the University of Cape Town. This photo was taken on the last day of the course after handing out course certificates.

I also each year teach young aspiring filmmakers from the Kalahari desert area of South Africa in how to tell their own personal stories using video and film. In the Kalahari the climate is harsh and employment opportunities are scarce. This photo was taken on the last day of our 2025 course.

On a personal note my hobbies are photography, filmmaking, reading, and watching movies. For exercise I enjoy walking and hiking. A favourite past time is growing rare South African succulents from seed. Here is one in flower—Faucaria Tigrina—now 5 years old.
