鎌倉時代の時宗の祖、一遍上人についてお話ししました。一遍上人絵伝の中で、一遍さんがホームレスの人や
ハンセン病の人々に寄り添っておられるのを見て感動しました。社会不安の強い今の時代に励みになります。

鎌倉時代の文化についてお話ししました。私のレッスンではいつも、授業の前にネットからダウンロードした画像を
ストーリー仕立てにして準備し、その絵をもとに私が解説をするスタイルでクラスを進めています。勉強になります。

Mainly we talked about foreign apprentices who learned a traditional Japanese craft under an experienced master. That might be daunting and require unwavering endeavor. Craft is not something you are spoon-fed, is a voyage. The standard technique keeps changing throughout the time. Foreigners are encouraging Japanese people to preserve the Japanese tradition. One of the best things about Japan is its traditional skills. We must not lose the ethos and culture associated with those skills.

禅宗の一つ、黄檗宗についてお話ししました。宇治黄檗山萬福寺の開祖、隠元禅師をご紹介し、インゲン豆、
スイカや多くの物が中国から入ってきたことをお話ししました。楽しいクラスでした。

We mainly talked about the vaccine being developed in the United States. American biotech giant Moderna is manufacturing the vaccine for the coronavirus. The objective is to offer the vaccines to the most vulnerable populations before the end of December, to health care workers before the end of January and all Americans by the beginning of April.

We mainly talked about the Presidential election in the United States.
Even though Trump doesn't concede, Biden is on cusp of presidency.
He already received adequate number of votes to win the presidency, but Trump is insisting on illegalities and asking for recounts. Biden declared victory and said it's time to heal and do his best to unify the country. Also I learned about the system of the presidential election. To sure the equality of each vote, each state has different number of candidates. If Biden wins at the state, all candidates of the state vote for Biden no matter what.

Also, we talked about JAL. JAL will raise \167.9 billion by a public stock offering this year to help the firm survive the harsh business environment amid the coronavirus pandemic. Most of it is used to purchase fuel-efficient flight equipment and low cost carriers under its wing and reduce interest bearing debt.

we mainly talked about JAL. It is going to post the net loss of between \240 billion and \270 billion in fiscal 2020. In order to overcome the difficulty with Covid-19, what they are doing is to cut costs as much as possible such as retiring a total of 24 Boeing 777 large passenger jets, returning five Boeing 737 jets on lease by the end of fiscal 2022, cutting remuneration of workers. Their workers have to have a second part time job to survive.

We also talked about South Korea. It is exporting the technology Korea sells to the world. Depending on the factor, some business relating to computer chips is very lucrative, the one relating to chemicals and metal products is not. South Korea did very well on pressing down Coronavirus by having a drive through test.

We mainly talked about Prime Minister Suga.
His Cabinet approval rating stood more than 65%, but dropped to 60.5%.
72.7% of respondents are not satisfied with his failure to explain his decision not to approve six six nominees to the Science Council of japan. If he doesn't respond well in Diet, his approval rate could enter a downward spiral.

Also, we talked about Minamata disease. Although 20,000 have attempted to be recognized as victims, fewer than 3,000 have officially been certified, each receiving between \16 million and \18 million. A lack of government and corporate responsibility remains an issue as victims continue to fight for their right for a fair financial settlement. The government and Chisso don't truly understand Minamana disease.

今回は曹洞宗と道元禅師の教えについてお話ししました。只管打坐はsimply just sitting なのですね。
私はてっきり、ビシッとたたくことかと思っていました。seated meditation（座禅）はとても出来ませんが。
作務（some)の掃除はこれから頑張ります。デボラ先生は厳しい掃除のことはチベット仏教で、よくご存じでした。
ネルケ無法さんのこともご紹介しました。

京都の建仁寺についてご紹介しました。
祇園のすぐ近くにありますが、静かなよいお寺ですね。
I learned that etymology of ZEN derives from 'Dhyana' , which means meditation in Sanskrit.

仏教について勉強しています。今回は栄西禅師と臨済宗について学びました。
お茶の種を中国から持って帰って下さったのがありがたいですね。

We mainly talked about Japanese sake.
A lot of restaurants overseas started to import sake from Japan and serve it.
There are 156,000 restaurants serving sake in 2019, compared to only 24,000 in 2006.
Amino-acid in sake matches very well with French.
People in France are accustomed with drinking wine, but they want to drink something different.
The star player for Japan's national soccer team began touring Japan to learn about traditional Japanese culture and visited craftsman. Now, he is using what he learned during the tour to help the sake industry, involve in a range of ventures to help sake become a genuinely global product.
