I enjoyed Vandy's lesson today, as well. She gave me 2 questions and I tried to make impromptu short talks regarding to her questions.The questions were simple so it was not very difficult to answer them. 中学生の子供のレッスンをお願いしました。学校で飢餓の問題を取り上げていたので、今回「テクノロジーが飢餓を救う」という内容の記事でディスカッションをお願いしました。講師から内容が年齢に合っていない、難しすぎる、そして楽しく興味の持てるトピックを与えるべきだとのご指摘をうけました。学校で扱ったトピックを再度視野を広げるために選んだので、このような指摘を受けて大変残念です。
教材にボキャブラリーの説明がありましたがスキップし、記事もただ子供に読ませただけで(もちろん読み方などの訂正、多少の言葉の意味の確認はしていただいたようですが)教え方はプロフェッショナルな感じではありませんでした。ディスカッションパートもご自身が興味がなかったのか、初めから子供の年齢に不向きもしくは答えられないと思われたのか、話を発展させるようなことはなく、ただ教材に書かれた質問をしただけのレッスンでした。

I enjoyed this trial lesson. When I didn’t know what to say in English, John typed Skype notes. It was so helpful.
I forgot a word “lake” and said “mizuumi” in Japanese. John asked me “mimizu”? I’m so embarrassed not to say such a easy word!!
But it was a very good opportunity to make me realise that I need to practice speaking English. I’m studying again this lesson reviwing the Skype notes in my free time. Thank you very much!!

Robert is an American living in Costa Rica. He has a big interest in Japanese culture, especially in arts. He even wrote a thesis on Ukiyoe in Japan. So far I have done more than 10 lessons about various Japanese painters such as Hiroshige, Hokusai, Harunobu, Kuniyoshi, Kyosai Kawanabe and so on. It is always interesting for me to introduce him different pictures of Japanese painters and to discuss about them.

Vladimir is a polyglot who is familiar with English, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Italian, and so on. He is a very intellectual guy and with him I could discuss diversified topics including political, scientific, and even philosophical ones. He is also a great lover of SF novels and he introduced me some novels or movies in that area. It is always fun for me to discuss with him.
