It was my first time to take her lesson. Though I talked with her for the first time, she was so friendly that I didn't feel nervous at all. I was able to tell she tried to encourage me to speak. She patiently listened to me. I'd like to take her lesson again soon. Thank you Teacher Ashly! :) |

There are so many loan words in Japan, some words are get into Japanese. For example, the word “Tempura” is comes from Spanish word “templow” which means heavenly day. Many people regards it as Japanese words. I think McDonald's, American hamburger restaurant, too. We call it “Mac” or “Mac-do-naru-do”(mainly east of Japan) or “Maku-do” (mainly the Osaka area, but recently people use it as expression in a mocking tone). It is quite different from foreign guy’s pronunciation, “məkdάnldz”. Now, we can regard it as Japanese. If you are foreigner, in case of you stay in Japan, you would better pronounce it “Mac-do-naru-do”. For example, “Why don’t we go to ‘Mac-do-naru-do’ for lunch?” (east), “ ’Mac-do’ shibaki-ni ikoka?”(Osaka) |

Today we talked about education of Englis in Japan. It is often said that many Japanese people aren't active in discussion in English because of feeling embarassed imagining the case of making mistakes in English. But Mark advised me that experiencing many chances to speak in English makes us more confident and with confidence we can speak more fluently. Exactly, I agree with his advice. I'll keep on my speaking training persistently wishing I could express my ideas exactly. Thank you, Mark for your encouraging advice and helpful lessons. See you next time. |
