Mark, thank you very much. I recomend you as a friendly and skillful teacher. |

Hi Nix! Thank you very much for giving wonderful lessons as always. I am so happy to see you again. I spent my first day here safely. I enjoyed talking about a lot of topics with a Taxi driver during the driving from the airport. He introduced the attraction of this town for sightseeing. Furthermore, I enjoyed American cuisine in the restaurant and talking with the staff.Anyway, thanks to your lessons, I have spent valuable and enjoyable time in my trip. Thank you so much, Nix.We have time difference. But, see you soon! |

Numbing cold in the morning and hot during the day. I am susceptible to get out of shape, let alone the pollen allergy. I feel crappy. Hi, Evelyn, it was good seeing you. As always, you develop the discussion. I really like it. We have possibility that someone would steal your identity. We have to protect ourselves from being robbed of our information. In particular, you have to be careful if you are using SNS like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Thank you for your lesson. I enjoyed it very much. See you soon. Good-bye. |

Nice meeting you again, Carmela. In a movie world, you can be a hero, a heroine, a bad gui, and so on. Anything can be possible in that world. We can experience what we usually can not. It's more exciting than anything else in the movie world. I appreciate your lesson. I really enjoyed it as usual. See you soon. Bye-bye. |

Hi Vlada, an SF novelist Cory Doctorow used this expression, if my memory serves: "People living in states whose names starting and ending with vowels". Meaning Ohio, Oklahoma, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Alabama, Alaska, Arizona. I guess they are heartlands of United states (well, Alaska might not!). However, the expression is funny because those vowel names mostly came from native Americans names, I think. Those states are considered as "Most American" states, aren't they? |

Kathryn, we discussed a knife regulations in Japan, as well as other topics. I found this link: https://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quereadisplay.html?0+87547 Which explains you cannot carry around a knife with longer blade than 6cm, without proper reasons. I understand that, for some people, probably that kind of regulations are too strict and somewhat 1984-ish, but it might be one of viable options if knife crimes keep increasing in London. Or just spending more money, to hire more police persons might be the key? |

Mark, I bought the DVD of "Darkest Hour" to watch the movie again. Gary Oldman looked rather cheerful at the beginning of the movie, naturally, with reaching the position of prime minister at last. However, after learning looming danger Britain was facing at Dankerk, he lost his arrogance (& confidence) only to almost give up the fight against Nazi: it is a fact recently revealed, according to historians. That makes me wonder what would happen if Churchill had made peace with Germany, even temporarily, as Chamberlain had insisted. Would be the world a dark world as "A man in the high castle" describes? Or rather, German government might have collapsed after Hitler's death? Interesting questions well up. Imagining "If" worlds always fascinating. |
