I`ve had an experience that made me terrified, which had connection with a fiction film. After seeing the horrible film, my friend, John, and I were in the mood to talk about the scenes that panicked us most, Suddenly a huge figure jumped out which tottaly put us into fright and we almost forgot to run away. The figure resembled the monster in the film so much that I could do nothing but cry. The figure cried, "It`s me!" It was our another companion who had seen the film with us. He lied to us that he had something to do and left. He said he`d just wanted to play a trick on us. In my view, it`s not a good idea to make such a frightening joke. Nina, thank you very much for today`s lesson. I am absolutely enthralled by your wit and wisdom.I hope you have a good week. |

Today we talked about bazillion things as detachment, detachment from ours teachers. In my age, we painted a positive picture to the teachers, we respected them, revered them, venerate them, now days, I think is different, students don`t respect them, in addition fool them. That`s a sad picture.Furthermore, we talked about indiscretion, trivial indiscretion, utter indiscretion that we said or done before and lost friends. That is a sad picture as well. Also we talked about harbinger, for example, in Japan when the rainy season comes to an end, it is a harbinger of the arrival of summer, harbinger of bad luck, or fortune, or trouble, etc. Moreover, about a rude awakening we had lately, we had a rude awakening when the waitress brought us the bill and we saw how much we had to spend for the food. That is a sad picture too.I used words as disgruntled, wince, crux, glitch, flounder, bawl out,pin down, clam up,band together, throw in,bow out, bawl out, lax, brash, take it from me,silkbay, dispensary. |

I learned good vocabraries today including "dis(speaking disrespectfully")", "lull (soothing, causing sleep)", "to sink in(entering the mind)", "I will get you for that (I will get you later)", and "rain down on (fall or drop down on somthing like a rain)". It's interesting to learn swear words because Japanese don't swear as much as English people do and maybe that's why we have limited swear words. I can't wait our next lesson. Thank you Katherine! |

It was nice seeying you, Eden. We talked aboutthe heavy rain which caused much damage in many areas of Japan. Then, we discussed scholarship. More and more college students use scholaship. As the number of them have increased, a growing number of people are not able to pay their scholarship off. This is considered to be a serious problem in Japan. As you said, it is a kind of loan. In my opinion, the cause is that too many people go to college. One who graduates lower educational level college shall get low salary. If the one used sholarship, he or she might not pay it back because of the low salary. We have to think these things before using scholarships. Thank you for your instructive lesson. I enjoyed it from the bottom of my heart. See you soon. I look forward to talking with you. Bye. |

Hi Mayumi-San, happy to see you again:) As you said, even though the last lesson was just a week ago, I felt like taking a long time too. I really enjoy spending time with you. I feel sad when I can't see you even only for a couple of days. Well, we talked about Japanese tea such as matcha, sencha, hojicha and so on. Speaking of matcha, do you like matcha gelato? There is a very popular matcha gelato in Asakusa. That is Suzukien's matcha gelato: especially "No.7", which is the densest, richest one in matcha gelatos, is the most popular one. I have never been to Suzukien which is a tea shop that's been doing business in Asakusa since 1848. I would like to go there once. I can't wait the next. Take care and see you soon! |
