こんにちわ!

 

Good day everyone! My name is Joel but you can call me MJ. I am an English teacher from the Philippines and I have been teaching English to Korean and Japanese students for almost 10 years. I took up Japanese language lessons for about a year and passed the N4 (elementary) level.

 

I enjoy playing video games and reading books on my downtime. I own a variety of gaming consoles as well as a gaming PC. Big Playstation 4 fan here! As for books, I like to read historical fiction and nonfiction.

 

Speaking of history, I am a huge Japanophile! I try to follow the latest happenings in Japan and I know quite a bit about its history. My specialties are the Sengoku period and the Bakumatsu/Meiji era.

 

I have been exposed to the English language since I was little, watching children's shows and cartoons in English. I never stopped learning since then and my reading habits have helped me tremendously. I truly believe that English is a wonderful language and everyone should have the privilege to learn it.

 

I specialize in helping my students read text and use words in the right context (pronouns, adjectives, etc.) I also help and encourage them to construct complete sentences on their own.

 

I am an easygoing teacher so I will not be too hard on you. But no dilly-dallying! ;) Let's make it a fun and fulfilling experience for both of us.
