Hi Mayumi-san, nice to see you again:) Thank you so much for always your great lessons. You're always awsome. You're the one for me and I'll never let you go. We first talked about my daughter's house getting ready. As her familiy's new house was completed just before, they moved to the house from my house a few days ago. It was really fun to live with them, especially with my grandchildren, for about two months. Even though I miss them, it's really nice and happy that they live close. We then talked about my speech script. The theme assigned was to make a speech about leadership. Thanks to your advice to my speech script, my speech was successful, but unfortunately I was not able to get the award of best speaker. I think that I need to practice a lot more how to deliver my speech well in order to attract more and more the audience. I would like to take your lesson about how to make a good speech when I have the next speech opportunity. I think that it is really difficult to make a speech or a presentation in front of a large audience. Thank you so much for the great time. You make me so happy every day of my life. I think about you every day. I want to be with you a bit longer. See you soon^^ I'll miss you very much again as well. |

Hi Mayumi-san, good to see you again:) Thank you so much for always your wonderful lessons. You made my day this time again. We talked about leadership and the different types of bosses. You are very lucky that you don't have to deal any types boss situations. I'm so jealous of that. To put it simply, if a boss don't like to work with me, he can change another person except me, but even if I don't like to work under him, I can't change my boss easily. I have no chice but to endure the situation. But as I have retired my working life, it is happy not to worry about personality or leadership style of my boss.(haha) We also talked about the differences in working environment and human relationships. The psychological background of the Japanese dislike for brainstorming has to be the desire to preserve the wa. In business, Japanese want to preserve the wa so much that they do not insist on differing opinions strongly in front of the people they are talking to. Japanese people unconsciously feel that saying something strongly to another person may hurt the person's feelings, so when they comfront someone in those situations, they soften their tone and go into enkyoku mode to imply their message. It seems to be difficult for foreigners to understand the Japanese communication style. I'm really happy to see you again and you are always on my mind. I'm looking forward to next lesson. Please take care of yourself not to catch a Coronavirus. See you soon^^ |

Hi Mayumi-san, nice to see you again:) It was really fun to talk with you as always. Thank you so much for your great lesson. After I have chat with you every time, I'll miss talking with you immediately. I can't wait to see you. You are always on my mind. We talked about the COVID-19 situations here and there. Coronavirus anxiety is real. With restrictions tied to the coronavirus outbreak leaving millions confined to their homes, even those who call themselves introverts are feeling the effects of quarantine on the body and mind. I know that many people including me feel stress about staying at home. But now is time to hold on for everybody. I will keep still and be patient or endure something for the time being. We then talked about how to make a quick speech,or to make an impromptu speech. When I was asked abput something difficult like my opinion, thought, belief, judgement, and others, it's a little hard to make a quick speech or to make an impromptu speech. The advice from you that we need to brainstorm was very helpful. I will take your suggestion soon on practicing my impromptu speech and I will make it to a habit. Thanks for the great time as always. Not a day goes by without thinking about you. Take care and see you soon^^ |

Hi Mayumi-san, nice to see you again:) Thank you so much for always your marverous and fun lessons. Thank you for your warm compliments. We talked about the official language of the U.S. What is the "official language" of the U.S.? Although most people assume that it is English, which is of course the most common language, there is no mention at all in the U.S. Constitution of any official language. I completely thought that it was English until recently. The U.S. operates under a federal system where most powers and decisions are passed down to the state level. It is thus up to each state to decide its own official language. Currently, however, only about 60% of the states have laws that declare English as their official language. Moreover, I was really surprised at the fact that native speakers in the U.S. only know about four percent of English words. I might know more about English words than them. After that, we talked about the problem of the difficulty of Japanese for care givers from overseas. They have to pass the exam of care givers in Japanese in order to get care givers' certification of Japan. It is very difficult for them to pass the test. The exam pass rate is only about 50% of technical interns in spite of lack of care givers. The government need to think about how they conduct the exam for care givers in order to increase the number. Thank you so much for the wonderful time as always. I love chatting with you and you are always on my mind. Please take a good care of yourself. I can't wait for the next lesson with you. See you soon^^ |

Hi Mayumi-san, happy to see you again:) I couldn't wait until this Saturday and so took your lesson on Monday. I missed you. Thank you so much for always your wonderful lesson. First, we talked about love, especially for a long distance relationship. As you said, some people say that it always allows you to have your own time much more than in a relationship where you can meet your partner anytime you want. I believe it to a certain extent. In 2012, the average age to get married for the first time was 30.8 for men and 29.2 for women. Up until the early 70's, the average age for women was under 25, but it has beeen rising ever since, as more women are pursuing higher education and professional careers. Today, both men and women are getting married at a wider range of ages. With this tendency to marry late, the increasing rate of unmarried people, especially women, can be considered a social problem. Some people point out the increasing of soshoku-kei dansi as one of the reasons of rising average age of marriage. Soshoku-kei dansi:草食系男子 in Japanese, is the term used to describe young Japanese men who are feminine in the sense that they are gentle, like shopping, wear cosmetics, and aren't aggressive toward the opposite sex. What do you think of it? We then talked about culture differences between Japanese people and people from overseas, especially about relationships. Japanese people try to preserve the wa:和 in Japanese, so they tend to not like to stand out. On the other hand, in the West, from the time they are children, people are encouraged to state their opinions clearly and highlight their abilities and special skills. It can safely be said that the Japanese communication style of moderation and consideration for the other party's feelings by adjusting things in an unofficial location is the opposite of the Western one. I can't wait to see you until next time. I have already missed you. I'm looking forward to seeing you. See you soon^^ |

Hi Mayumi-san, nice to see you again:) Thank you so much for always your wonderful, tremendous, excellent, splendid, marvellous, magnificent, superb, glorious, sublim, lovely, delightful lessons. These adjectives such as wonderful, tremendous, etc are listed as synonym on Oxford Paperback Thesaurus. There are really many synonyms, I think. To be honest, it is still difficult for me using words, phrases and expressions correctly in English. However, I have been studying happily English thanks to you. What's more, you always make my day. First, we talked about the situation with the disease COVID-19. In Japan, a concern of more spreading of the disease is expanding increasingly again, and so the governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike, has again urged people to refrain from non-essential outings, warning that the capital is at a critical juncture in preventing an explosive spread of the coronavirus. She also warns of possible lockdown. As you know, India is under complete lockdown for 3 weeks to the whole nation. The number of all citizens in India is 1.3 billion. I can't imagine the magnitude of the effect. When I saw a TV news related to the situation in India, violator who went out without permission was being whipped or squatted on the spot. The punishments in India are also unique and I realized again that there are many culture differences in the world. Don't you think that too? Next, I might say Zoom, the video-conferencing app. It has seen a huge rise in downloads since quarantines were imposed around the world and it is now being used by millions for work and social gatherings. The English speech which I belong to also has begun to consider introduction of Zoom. In this way, I guess that remote working could become more popular in Japan as well. Please take a good care of yourself and I'm looking forward to seeing you again soon. You are on my mind forever^^ |
