Hello! My name is Sam, I'm from the UK and I'm 23 years old. I have a deep fascination with Japan that started when I met my first Japanese friend on my University Year Abroad in the US! For the last two years I've spent much of my time self-studying the Japanese language (and recently passed the JLPTN5!). I really enjoy exercise and sport. I go to the gym five times a week (indoor cycling and weight lifting) and my favourite sport is rock climbing! I also enjoy the outdoors, reading, cooking, going out with friends and listening to music!

I love language learning. I'm preparing to enrol on the JET programme next year as an ALT and would like to get some English teaching experience in before I go to Japan! I am TEFL certified, and have some informal experience teaching English with my Japanese friends on language exchange apps (which I've enjoyed a lot!), but I'd love to help out Japanese English learners like yourself in a more formal setting! As a student of Japanese, I understand just how different our languages are and just how difficult it can be to learn our languages, but I can help you get to grips with English in a natural and fun way (as this is how I study Japanese!).

My lessons will generally be free flowing conversational lessons as I feel this is the most natural and enjoyable way to engage with a language. That being said, I'm more than happy and capable of providing more structured lessons if that is what you desire! My strong point tends to be around teaching thematic vocabulary (e.g. travel vocabulary), pronunciation correction and grammar explanation.
