Hello ,Its nice to meet you!

My name is Karel.

I am originally from the Philippines and currently based in Japan. I am a mother of two and work part-time as an English teacher at an after-school program.

Before coming to Japan, I knew only a few Japanese words, so I made a conscious effort to learn the language and culture. Over time, I have become able to understand everyday Japanese conversation, and I continue to improve. I would say I am now quite familiar with Japanese culture.

I have over five years of experience teaching English both online and in person. I have taught Japanese and Chinese students of all ages and levels.

Through my teaching experience, I have prepared students for Eiken Grades 1 to 5, focusing mainly on vocabulary, grammar, reading, and speaking, including interviews and expressing opinions. I use textbooks and my own teaching techniques to help students reach their goals. I have also taught preschoolers, using phonics and gradually adjusting lessons based on each student’s development.

I have earned a TESOL certificate, which has expanded my knowledge of the English teaching industry and became more confidents to handle lesson to different type of students.
