Hello! My name is Zoie, and I'm so excited to be here! 

I live in the state of Oregon in the United States, right in the heart of the Pacific Northwest! I am 19 years old, and attending college for Nursing! I speak fluent English with a Standard American Accent. I was born in the Philippines, but my family moved to the US when I was young. I grew up bilingually, being able to speak Bisaya (a language of the Philippines) as well. I can also speak conversational Spanish, and just beginner🤏🏻 knowledge of Japanese. 

I am also TEFL Certified (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). I've just recently started my experience in English teaching and I'm looking forward to growing with you! ヽ(•‿•)ノ

Here are some things about myself as an introduction:)

- I aspire to be a nurse, and will apply to nursing school soon! I work at a hospital as a Nursing Assistant, and have seen a variety of wounds and medical conditions with my patients!

- I love to play video games on my Nintendo Switch (The whole Zelda series has my heart), and some games on my PC (Macbook).

- I was a State-Champion Swimmer!

- I love beauty, makeup, and fashion! Feel free to discuss current trends with me!

- I watche anime! My favorites were more shoujo genres like Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun! My ultimate favorite anime (so far) is Bungou Stray Dogs

- I like nature and going on trips, and I'm planning on travelling to many countries soon!

- I wanted to try out teaching English because I've always had a passion for the English subject throughout my middle and high school years! I loved to write essays and do presentation of analyses.

I'd love to get to know you through lessons! Some things I can provide for you are:

- Improving your English pronunciation

- Expanding your English vocabulary

- Teaching you popular and current English slang, and common phrases (idioms) to make your speaking sound natural

- Create you with a safe and relaxed space for learning the English language!

My goal is to create a more comfortable, friendly space for you to practice/learn English in

I can follow a lesson with textbooks/materials that you want, but I also encourage sessions of free-talk as well, to fully immerse students in English conversation, like you would in the real world! We can correct, and learn along the way. Making mistakes is common, and I will take note of them and guide you to improvement! You are here to learn and practice, and I am here to help!

Lesson Flow: Free -talk 

- In the first lesson, I like to start with brief introductions, as well as clarifying goals for lessons so I know what things to correct/suggest on. Please tell me about your career, education, travel experience, hobbies, goals, fun facts, and interests!

- I take notes of what students say, and use them to form mainly open-ended questions. I encourage students to talk as much as they are able to, but I can understand when there is a stopping point, and we can move on from there.

Lesson Flow: Textbook/Materials 📚

- In the first lesson, I typically start with short introductions and discussing goals for the lesson before beginning. It would be great if you let me know what you'd like to focus on:) Then, we can move to the material

Lesson Flow: Kids 

- I admittedly don't have much experience with teaching children as much as adults, but I would like to improve on that, so I am working hard to familiarize myself to teach young learners!

- I like to ask about the interests and hobbies of children before starting the lesson to see how  much English they can speak. Then transition to the lesson.

- I will incorporate some activities and mini "check-ins" to review words we learned through the lesson, as a way to practice pronunciation and understanding. 

- Parents: please let me know if there is something specific I can do more of in lessons for your child (ex. talk more about __, etc). 

I also offer double lessons as long as it fits in my lesson schedules when you book, recommended only after our first lesson! 

Please let me know specifically what you'd like to do in our lessons, as well as what you would like to improve on (pronunciation, grammer, vocabulary, fluency, etc). Whatever it is, we can do it!
