My name is Sam and I'm from Vancouver, Canada. I have a good understanding of Canadian culture, as I not only grew up here, but also because I am a certified global Cross Cultural Trainer (TMC - Berlitz, based in Princeton, New Jersey). At the same time, I know about the differences between local cultures. For example, how my city Vancouver thinks and behaves differently than other cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, just to name some.
I have taught students from many countries with Canadian, Japanese, and Chinese students as my 3 largest groups by number. I have been teaching English since 2005 in the areas of business, conversation, test preparation, and Canadian pre-university English. My business lessons have included specialized areas such as Marketing, HR, and Meetings & Presentations, but also general business topics.
When I'm not working, I enjoy watching movies (particularly science fiction), reading up on news and current affairs as well as going outdoors to parks and beaches. I also value the little pleasures in life. For example, one of my favourite things to do is to chill by having red wine together with cottage cheese and sometimes adding a few biscuits.
I hope to see you in class soon so you can improve your English. In the meantime, have a wonderful day!
