Double lesson

I explained the difference between Tako-yaki and Okonomi-yaki.
Also learned that they are originated in Osaka and Kansai area and that's the reason why they are popular in that area. Okonomi means whatever you like in Japanese and yaki means fried. You can put any ingrediends you like in the breading and that's where the name comes from.

Double lessons.

I learned new words such as provision, forgery and break in and made sentences with those words.

Nes contracts for the provision of services were made last week.
He was guilty for the forgery of famous paintings.
Poor people were forced to break in stores for food and drink.

Thank you for your lesson. It was difficult to describe my job but it was a good practice.

仏像について勉強しています。このクラスでは四天王について学びました。東は持国天、南は増長天、西は広目天、北は、多聞天が守ります。多聞天がソロデビューした時、毘沙門天になるのですね。初めて知りました。広目天はなぜ、筆と巻物を持っているのかと聞かれたのですが分からなかったので広目天さんに聞いて下さいとお答えしました。

In this class I talked about the four guardian kings, Shitennoh in Japan.
I learned that each king has specific role in charge of their direction. It's interesting to know about these
statuary both in English and Japanese.

仏像の見方について勉強しています。今回は天部の仏像をとりあげました。天部の仏様はインドの神様が仏教に取り入れられたもので、吉祥天はラクシュミー、弁財天はサラスバティーがモデルになっています。金剛力士像はヘラクレスがモデルだそうです。楽しく勉強しています。

In this class I introduced the world of Buddhist category of the Ten.
It is interesting to know that Kongoh-rikishi derives from Heracles via Greece sculpture.

NHKの日曜美術館で今朝、東寺の仏像曼荼羅が紹介されていました。昨夜スカイプでデボラ先生に紹介したところだったので、わりとよく分かりました。こわおもての仏様たちも頑張っているんだと思いました。お知らせです。「国宝、東寺－空海と仏像曼荼羅」が東京上野の国立博物館で開催中です。６月2日まで。お見逃しなく！

In this class I introduced Buddhist statuary, Myo-oh which was brought by Kukai during the early Heian period.
I think these objects live in our lives while we don't pay any attention. This is great joy to learn about these national treasures in the lessen!
