Hello everyone! My name is Kanon, and I am a born and raised New Yorker! I am currently attending a college in New York, double majoring in Dance and Arts Management. My dream is to first become a professional dancer in Manhattan, and then become a dance teacher in Japan. I have always been extremely passionate about teaching English because I love helping and supporting students through the difficult but rewarding journey of learning another language. I am fluent in Japanese because I attended a Japanese Saturday School for 8 years and also visit Japan every summer, so I will be able to give you support in Japanese if you would like!
During my lessons, I will mainly be focusing on correcting pronunciation, increasing your vocabulary, and teaching common phrases used in America. I believe pronunciation is one of the most important and yet most difficult parts of learning English. Those R’s and L’s are especially tough to get the hang of, but by practicing with me, you will grow to be able to pronounce even the most complex words! My lesson style is fun and easy going, and I want all of my students to feel comfortable with making mistakes. Mistakes leads to growth! I hope to create a learning environment where everyone can laugh and have fun, while working hard and improving their English. We can freely talk about your interests, hobbies, school life, work life, or anything else you would like to to talk about! I love teaching people of all ages, from young children to students to grown adults. I volunteered at my Japanese Saturday School for 4 years helping 5-12 year old students with their school work, and taught English to foreign exchange students as well as friends and family in Japan. I am prepared to provide a fun and engaging lesson that will for sure improve your English skills, and help you gain confidence in your English. I am so excited to meet you all!
