Hi everyone! My name is Chie. I live in a suburb of New York City and I've been here for more than 25 years. I speak standard American English.
I would start off my lessons by getting to know you and understandning your goals. This would allow me to create a series of lessons tailored to you. Don't be afraid of making mistakes because that's the best way to learn! I'm happy to work on pronunciation (including phonics), prosody (intonation), vocabulary, grammar, conversation skills, and reading and discussion.
Here is a little bit about myself --
I was born and raised in Japan. When I was 15, I had an opportunity to go to Sydney, Australia, as an exchange student. That was only for three weeks but it was a big eye-opener experience for me. A year later, my father got transferred to New York, so we moved here. I went to a local high school where I had an amazing ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. Then I majored in violin performance for undergraduate and graduate degrees. I've been performing and teaching violin since, and also tutoring English to Japanese students in the U.S.
My interests are food, tea, yoga, reading, traveling, history, and Japanese calligraphy.
I am looking forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and making conversations in English with you!
