I booked two lessons in a row. This time, our topic was food. I discussed run-off-the-mill restaurants near my apartment - I ate Sushi when my mother turned 80, and the soy source is made from fermented soybeans. The government should certify good quality. To make matters worse, Japan's self-sufficiency rate is heading down.

We talked about cloth and shoes. Thank you for providing correct and natural expressions, such as four pairs of shoes on Amazon. I will use "aside from sandals" instead of "except" and think about fast fashion and rules in Japan.

I reserved two lessons in a row. Our topic was a neighborhood. This might sound strange, but I rarely converse with them; I don't even know their names since they often move out. Unfortunately, my neighbors don't always abide by the rule of putting the recyclables in the assigned bins. So, it gets on my nerves. I'm afraid some of my neighbors are rotten eggs. Some of them are bad eggs, which is why I sometimes go ballistic.

Our free conversation topic was the saddest day of childhood. I remembered my pet's death; it was out of the blue, and I was down in the mouth.

I booked two lessons in a row. This time, our topic was public transportation. I talked about my trip to China - reading Chinese characters is a child's play for Japanese. The public transportation system in Tokyo is a far cry from what it was twenty years ago. As for a car to possess, I wondered which position to take; I was sitting on the fence.

We talked about health. I addressed yin-yoga and yang-yoga, introducing a YouTube video over which I was bowled. I also discussed insomnia; I was as sick as a dog. I was bored to tears to see a doctor. My mother also has been under the weather.

we had a great time. she was friendly and she gave me a lot of topics that I could talk about easily.

We discussed art and music. Art is prevalent in my country. Art has the power to unite us and express feelings that we cannot with words alone. So when I looked at my favorite piece of art, I felt deeply inspired and on top of the world. These woodblock prints and paintings showed art lovers true beauty, which is why art is so popular in Japan.

Our topic was an advertisement. I talked about digital newspapers and books; Kindle is pretty convenient. The ad is a far cry from the traditional one a few decades ago.

We talked about friends. The person I'd like to speak of is none other than my best friend when I was a graduate student. She was second to none until she passed away because of leukemia. Making friends is child's play for me; making foreign friends is also a piece of cake. We often hang out in downtown Tokyo for their benefit and my own. However, if we let ourselves use only the Internet, we might be depressed. Therefore, I try to avoid deeply getting involved with people I know only via the Internet.

Our topic was cities and rural areas. DC area is second to none for me, and Tokyo can't hold a candle to it; the National Archives in Tokyo is not a patch on the National Archives in Washington in which I'm like a dog with two tails. When it comes to rural areas, the Japanese governmental budget for rural areas is a drop in the ocean and barely enough; unfortunately, it is in the red.

As far as I know, Xandra is one of the best teachers. She taught me many practical idioms such as "grab a drink," "share a beer," "fighter planes," "made sushi," "take out the garbage," "bring severe damage to," and ecotourism visitors. I took two lessons in a row.

We enjoyed the free conversation. Today's topic was a job; I talked about ideal work in the U.S in the future and my hypothetical contribution if I get hired in Washington, D.C. Xandra taught me many valuable expressions such as "without them having to be physically present." I always appreciate your correction - I didn't expect you would count the number of "on top of that"!

I booked two lessons in a row. This time, our topic was libraries. I argued about the Library of Congress and the Diet Library. We also addressed the future of libraries 50 years later. Xandra taught me model expressions like "for the benefit of distant borrowers," "donated and kept at the SU library," "reduce publication costs," and "the impact of technology." Your corrections and advice are noteworthy to me.

Today's topic was hobbies. I talked about Taichi and yin yoga, which I would like to do but am still not good at, lacking technique and support; I once tried them but couldn't continue. Xandra kindly taught me useful expressions such as "when I was in elementary school," which I really appreciate. I didn't realize that "a" is unnecessary to "commit suicide."

I took two classes in a row. Now, our topic was retirement. I spoke of a person who still keeps working after his retirement age. However, I've never heard of a retirement home. I didn't know that retirement homes are very popular in the U.S. and different from nursing homes. Enjoy your weekend, Xandra!

Today's topic was a success. I talked about Mr. Kishida, who succeeded a faction in the LDP and became prime minister of Japan. It is an intriguing question whether or not success tends to be corrupt and destructive.
