In the first half of today's double lesson, we talked about my cold. I told Terry that I never take modern medicine for a cold because it just covers up or supresses symptoms and will not get rid of the cold itself. We agreed that people rely too much on modern medicine and that may make us less healthy in a long run. In the later half of the lesson, we read a CNN atticle about the growing prevalence of fake news. It was fun to talk about it with Terry. Thank you Terry. You are so intelligent and know things well. I always learn a lot from you. I'm looking forward to seeing you next time! |

About 5 years ago, a new comic released written by rookie comic artist. That was one Japanese language female teacher and her student’s story. The teacher struggles with the questions from her students, every day. The Questions were so simple but neither her nor many Japanese can’t reply it right away. For example, one students asks the name of a dish for serving condiments and soy source. That is “Ya-ku-mi Sho-yu Za-ra” in Japanese. Though most of families have that in sideboard but don’t know the name. He needs to know because he works in the Japanese restaurant as a dish washer. The students mostly the beginner, so most of their conversations are irregular. Since all the story are so funny that comics had sold over 2 million in 2012, and finally was adapted a live action. The name of comics is “The Japanese which Japanese Don't Know”. I enjoyed it while waiting my turn in clinic. I think the job of language teacher is tough. |

I clearly requested that I would like to practice speaking and the topic I would like to talk about, but she kept talking in the class and we could not talk about the topic I wanted to talk about. I was disappointed with the class. |

We read the transcript of Deutsche Bank Technology Conference. It was good material to learn casual English expressions used in a business context. I learned a lot of expressions such as foward-looking statement, acutely, come aboard, hold accountable, going north/south, workload, pick up, etc. Thank you for explaining the meaning of those words, Max. I'm sure these are useful in my work as I am working in the IT industry and having meetings with American colleagues regularly. I'm looking forward to continuing this material! |

Thank you so much for the lesson. You asked her where her grandfather works. She understood what were you saying but she didn't know how to describe in English.(Actually he retired already but he is working for an official of recident association.) Please ask her same question in next lesson. We are going to prepare how to explain in English. From her mother |
