We mainly talked about Setubun. Setubun is a festival to welcome the beginning of Spring to ward off the illness and unfortune. We usually have a ceremony called 'Mamemaki' on that day, we throws roasted beans away against the evil, believe beans drive the evil away and bring us the fortune. On that day we have a custom to have the same number of beans as my age to have the good health and have the special rolled sushi. That special rolled sushi has seven ingredients, representing seven deities of good fortune. While having it, we should look at a certain direction, a lucky direction of that year and have it without talking to keep guud luck from slipping away. We have an application to tell us where the lucky direction is. Setubun is usually on the third of February, but is on the second of February, happening the first in 124 years. The day of Setubun is decided, depending on the speed of the earth to rotate around the sun. It usually takes 365 days for the earth to rotate around the sun, but that's not exact. We need adjustments to the calendar. That's the reason Setubun is either on the 2nd of Feburary or on the 3rd of Feburary. |
