Profile Updated August 2025. 

I am a native English speaker from Cape Town in South Africa. I have a neutral accent. I am a university graduate and have completed a TEFL certificate. I have taught English for the past four years. I am excited to be a part of Eigox and have met some remakable people here.

My lessons take the form of a two-way conversation about whatever subject you wish to talk about. You can choose any of the many Eigox Lessons or we can simply talk about current day world politics and economics or the history that lead us to where we are today.

On a more personal note we can discuss health, travel, movies, art or simply the importance of living a less stressful life. Whatever you want to talk about. My conversation lessons are relaxed and easy. The aim is for you to enjoy a pleasant experience while you get an opportunity to speak English. 

By profession I am a television journalist and I have taught documentary filmmaking for the past 15 years.  

In July this year I ran a documentary storytelling course at the Film and Media School of the University of Cape Town. The participants all completed their own shooting scripts and shot lists for their chosen  stories. This is the group on the last day of the course.

I also went up to the Kalahari Desert in northern South Africa in June 2025 where I also taught documentary filmmaking to a group of young aspiring local filmmakers. It was a very special experience for me because I found an altogether new perspective on the lives of the people who live in this area of my country. My hobbies are photography, filmmaking, reading, and watching movies. I also enjoy walking and hiking, keeping up to date with what's happening in the world, and I have a special passion for growing rare South African succulents from seed. Here is one in flower—Faucaria Tigrina—now 5 years old.
