Bill and I discussed the pros and cons of four-day workweek systems this morning. Firstly, I recited my argument, and then he played devil's advocate. He made some critical questions and counterarguments. I could manage to answer them, I'd say. Then, our topic developed into how to maintain productivity while on the work. I brought up one technique called the "Pomodoro Technique" but had trouble explaining the system in English. Bill got straight my scattered explanation, which was probably gibberish, and reconstructed and typed it onto our chat window. I realized I still frequently faltered when I faced something I'd never talked about. |

Excellent class, as always!! We started with a small talk about his lunch and my physical condition. It's a good way to use everyday English smoothly. After that we went on to the article about the war in Ukraine. This may be a touchy topic, but we had a productive and informative time together. He also taught me some useful words and expressions in the article to apply to my real life. I really like the way he teaches! Until next time! |

Today, I had a class with Bill and talked about the current events in the world. We started by catching up on my trip to the Ise shrine and shared some info. And then, we got into the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I guess my speech might have slightly gone off Bill's intention because my focus was mainly on the volatility of the world's stock markets and how it would affect my assets. But, I do hope the world peace and the war settle down soon, of course. I didn't intend to get our conversation centered around money, but this was an English lesson where I practice English conversations until I can express everything about myself, so I brought up money things. Bill gave me his idea about the difference between gambling and investment, which contained lots of words and expressions that I would find helpful when talking about thoughts on them. Thank you for another great lesson, Bill. See you soon! |

Wonderful class, as usual! First, I wanted to talk about international affairs, but events on the ground are changing rapidly and it was difficult to decide an article in advance. So we studied the article about koalas. It turned out to be really interesting and productive. Bill always brings any topic to life with his skill!! Looking forward to our next class. |

Today, I had a free-conversation class with Bill. We started by catching up and talking about hey fever. I told Bill one home remedy that I have been practicing for a couple of years. Then, I asked him a quick question about my possible bad English speaking habit. He gave me his view on that. And then, we moved on to the pros and cons of remote work. Since Bill and I have been working online for a long time and have been completely used to it, our discussion was mainly about the negative aspects of remote work. I shared some kind of anxiety that remote work brings. Bill's concern about the rising cost of online working style was interesting and helped me see things from a different perspective. Thank you, Bill. It's going to be exciting to chat with polygonized you in a virtual space, hahaha. |

私は英語が少しできるが文法が苦手だったが先生はそこを修正して正しい文章にしてくれるためすごい勉強になった。また私は耳が悪いがそんな人にも優しくゆっくり大きな声で話してくれるために助かった。 |

Today, I had a free-talk lesson with Bill. We started with small talks about our New Year's. He told me that he and his family coincidently saw his son's music teacher at a shrine on New Year's Day and that talking with him was a lot of fun. I always wondered what a good translation for omamori is, and he taught me that it's a talisman. And then I got him to check a part of my job description, which I would use as a line for casual chitchat. He proofread it and rewrote it into a concise version for me. Thank you for another great lesson, Bill. I hope to see you soon. |
