We talked about difference between werstern (modern) science and eastern one. I also explained about a prominent Japanese immunologist and his theory. (I couldn't explain it well.I will do some research about him so that I can explain better the next time if we have a chance.) Then I asked Terry some questions about phrases which I had picked up from movies. We also read the CNN article. I learned a lot today, as usual with Terry's lessons. Thank you Terry! I hope you will get better soon! |

In the first half of today's double lesson, we talked about movies. We both don't like sad movies but agreed that good movies have some kind of sad element. After that, we continued to read a CNN article. Terry explained some vocabraries and expressions such as boxing in, paying a price, haws & dove, and base & swing. I also learned about isolationism. I learned a lot today from Terry in terms of not only English language but also American politics, which is great! Thank you Terry! |

We did some catching up, where I talked Terry about graucoma. I explained him what's kind of symptoms I have and the treatment I've been having. I told him that maybe it's a good idea for him to see an eye doctor for an eye exam because most people with eye graucoma have no early sysmtoms or pain and he hasn't seen an eye doctor for many years. After the catch up we read the CNN article. I learned an expression "floating a solution" which means experimenting a solution. We discussed about some interesting topics such as fake news, good qualities of Presidents, role of media. I enjoyed our conversation. Thank you Terry! |

In the first half of today's double lesson, we talked about my cold. I told Terry that I never take modern medicine for a cold because it just covers up or supresses symptoms and will not get rid of the cold itself. We agreed that people rely too much on modern medicine and that may make us less healthy in a long run. In the later half of the lesson, we read a CNN atticle about the growing prevalence of fake news. It was fun to talk about it with Terry. Thank you Terry. You are so intelligent and know things well. I always learn a lot from you. I'm looking forward to seeing you next time! |

Today we continued to read the CNN article about American politics and climate change. It says Amrican potilics has become dysfunctional because it has been discracted by money. With the media transitioning from papers to TV, and TV to social media, winning elecrion needs more money and once they are elected, they have to do their favors. And thanks to the Terry's input, I also learned that what Democrat's lost in the election meant to Ameican people and why they have been so emotional about it. Terry helped me understand how people in the U.S. view the mainstream news media. Today's lesson was very fun and informative. Thank you Terry! |
