Richard, thank you for sharing your photos and experiences in Myanmar. I am still wondering why everything is plated in gold in their temples and pagodas. Japanese ones are usually simply made of wood without any painting, which means they look bleak and not so entertaining for tourist eyes. However, Nothing gold can stay, as the American poet wrote. I imagine that very many people keep polishing the statues, walls, interior and exterior. |
