 たくさん話す機会がもらえて、しかもきちんと訂正があるので、ただ楽しく終わるのではなくとても勉強になります。

It was a fun discussion but I felt frustrated about only simple sentence patterns and vocabulary coming out when a story is becoming complicated. I will try to console myself with the knowledge that knowing what I can and cannot say in English is progress.

 With simply memorizing vocabulary books, it will be challenging to incorporate a colloquialism, idiom, or proverb into your active vocabulary. I believe that mastery of these boils down to sharing a sense and feeling with English-speaking people about a situation where they are used. It also requires learning about their culture and history. lessons with Michelle help a lot with that.

 It has been a pleasure working with you, Michelle!

We started off our lesson by talking a bit about cremation in Japan and England. I shared a funny story about the funeral of my father-in-law. I have never failed to make listeners laugh with this story, but it was in the Japanese language. It was the first time to do it in English and my attempt worked! I think I can make the story more succinct and am going to create a sophisticated, English version of it.

Then we got into today's theme English idioms. My example sentences tend to get lengthy, but Michelle appreciated it. I'm happy if it was even flattering.

 Lessons with Michelle have always been full of laughter and wittiness. She is a real delight to talk with. Needless to say, there is more to competent online English teachers than just being knowledgeable about the language. I would say she is absolutely one of the few who have it.

I had another great lesson today using a dialog that she made. It's full of British expressions, most of which I didn't even hear before.
