My name is Deborah and I live at the southern most end of Africa in Cape Town - one of the "windy cities" of the world.
I love the outdoors and am lucky to be close to beautiful mountains and beaches so I enjoy walking, hiking and camping. I find nature very uplifting, calming and relaxing which is why I also do yoga and meditation and I walk with my dogs every day. I have three children of 17, 19 and 21 so I like spending time with them in between our busy schedules and also having Sunday family lunches at my sister's where we can all touch base and enjoy family time.
I was born in Zimbabwe, and I was fortunate to experience the bush with all its wild animals, and then when I was 11, we moved to South Africa where I spent every weekend at the sea. I always yearned to sail the oceans which led me to sailing the Indian ocean and then to crossing the Atlantic with my husband on his sailing yacht from Cape Town to the Caribbean and then to the Mediterranean.
I am qualified to teach and am most comfortable with teaching beginner to intermediate levels and most of my experience is with adults and high school children, but having had my own children, I have some personal experience with little ones. Having studied French and German, I have a strong understanding of grammer, so my strengths are in grammar and pronunciation, and I particularly enjoy teaching language for everyday use.
I understand the challenges and difficulties of learning a language so I am patient and understanding, and students do not need to be afraid of making mistakes. I encourage students to speak as much as possible because that is when real learning happens.
Go for it! Say it! You can do it! I look forward to helping my students in their English learning journey.
