First, I asked a question about several sentences that I came across during my work. She kindly gave a clear explanation. Then, we discussed the news that a drunk Japanese pilot was arrested in UK the other day. Thank you for giving me a chance to talk with you!

Thank you for the lesson. I had a livery conversation. You recommended me the movie the other day. So I saw the movie. It was awesome. Despite we live different country each other,we can see the same movies timely. How amazing! One day I want to be able to see them without subtitles. See you next lesson.

Hi Michael! I happend to find an article by an economic commentator, who said the arrest was a coup by the major Japanese auto company. So maybe my hunch may be correct! The article you've chosen seems to be quite inteseting. Let's discuss it in the next lesson!
Michael SP.先生 11/20
Thank you for the discussion. See you next time.

Hi Nix. Thank you for wonderful lessons as always. I'm glad to conduct the listening material with you. The topic and discussion were fun for me. The level of material you chose was suitable for me. Because you know my ability and weak point well, your instruction is helpful. I really appreciate your lessons. see you, Nix.

自己紹介 Hello, everyone! My name is Todd Barselow and I’m a native English speaker from North Carolina on the eastern coast of the US. I currently live in Davao City, Philippines, which means that I’m only 1 hour behind Japanese time. I should have a schedule that is available during the peak tutoring hours (5am to 10am, and 5pm to midnight)!

I’m an avid reader and writer and my work as a literary editor is what I’m probably best known for. If you search for my name on Amazon.com you’ll see many of the books that I’ve worked on or have written myself. In addition to reading and writing, I am also an audiobook narrator, which is a whole lot of fun! I get to read books and record them so that others can enjoy listening to them.

My lessons consist of Conversational Topical English. At the present time I don't offer book lessons outside of the materials available here on Eigox. My focus is solely on Conversational English and helping you to improve your pronunciation and diction so that you speak more like a native speaker. My lessons can be structured in that either you or I will choose a topic to talk about, or they can be free form and develop and progress as conversation does naturally. (NOTE: please specify in the notes when reserving a lesson time what you would like to discuss or what materials you would like to use; otherwise, I will choose a topic based on your past tutoring or a current event, etc.) Either way, I can and will provide immediate correction to pronunciation and diction so that you can improve on the spot. Since there are literally BILLIONS of topics to talk about, my lesson times will never, ever be boring! I do have a suggestion though, which I believe will help you to improve your conversational English greatly. If you can find a topic in Japanese history or culture that you can practice explaining to a native speaker in English, it will not only improve your ability to communicate in English, it will also improve your confidence and allow you to take on the role of teacher sometimes, too! I know most people are interested in learning about others’ culture and history, and I’m certainly looking forward to learning from you just as you are learning from me. I hope to be able to save enough money tutoring here on Eigox so that I can visit Japan next year. ;-)

Something to note is that I also work for a US-based Japanese company called US College Connections. They are located in Texas, and they assist Japanese students who want to attend colleges and universities in the US. My role with USCC is that of essay editor. Since my career is in writing and editing, this is the perfect fit for me as I am able to pass along my knowledge and experience to Japanese students who dream of going to school in the US. Over the last 4 years, I’ve assisted 100+ students with their essays, which range from introductory writings to personal statements to career and educational goals, all of which universities take very seriously into consideration upon receiving an application for attendance. If you need advice or guidance in this regard, I’m very happy to be able to offer it to you here, on Eigox!

I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I hope to be talking to you and helping you to improve your Conversational English very soon! Take care and be well!
