We talked about the article "Third of farmed fruit and veg deemed too ugly to sell". Unexpectedly, a lot of fruit and vegetables have been discarded which are misshapen and worng size. The reason is that customers tend not to buy irregular size or shaped produces. This trend is also seen in Japan. But, actually quite a few customers don't mind shape and size of produces if the quality is same. To select good fruits and vegs, farmers grow excess produces and spend much energy and logistics become complicated. We should accept such produces which are ugly but have standard quality. Mark explained my unfamiliar words and phrases and suggested the essential points of the article. Especially, I like "wonky" =not straight or level, sounds cool. "go a long way to..",,,etc. Thank you, Mark for the interesting topic as always. See you next time.

It's been a while to have Chris's lesson since we had Obon holidays, but I'm relieved that their English wasn't getting rusty. They enjoyed his lesson very much as usual. I'm happy that they are learning a lot from Chris.

自己紹介 はじめまして! My name is Kristen. I’m 36 years old and I am from California. Some of my hobbies are traveling, cooking and photography. I have traveled to Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Ethiopia, and of course Japan! I also really enjoy cooking many different dishes, but baking is probably my favorite. Exploring other cultures and cooking different foods lead me to enjoy photography! I am just getting started but I can't wait to learn new things about taking photos. I also enjoy studying language and other cultures which made me want to share my interest as a career. Becoming a teacher is a fantastic way to share my love of language, so I earned both a bachelor's degree and a master’s degree. But what’s linguistics you may be asking yourself? Simply said, it is the study of language.

I was lucky enough to get a job teaching english in Japan after I finished my masters degree. Spending 4 years of my life teaching English in Japan and also learning Japanese has given me the advantage of seeing what it is like to be a student as well as a teacher of language. I have experience teaching students of all ages and a variety of lesson(1 on 1, small group, large group, conversation, exam prep (TOFEL/TOEIC/EIKEN), business English, Travel English, writing, etc.)

I think that learning any language should be fun and engaging. That is why I try to focus on the topics that interest you most while helping you improve. In my experience I have found that speaking is key! Focusing lessons on speaking and giving you as many chances as possible to communicate through activities and exercises will help you develop your skills in English.

If there is something specific you want to improve on like pronunciation or complex grammar for example I can help you there too. My previous students have told me that my lessons are fun and easy to understand no matter the subject. I always come prepared and ready to teach you! Let me help you make your dream come let’s have fun learning English together! がんばります!
