We talked about the article "Third of farmed fruit and veg deemed too ugly to sell". Unexpectedly, a lot of fruit and vegetables have been discarded which are misshapen and worng size. The reason is that customers tend not to buy irregular size or shaped produces. This trend is also seen in Japan. But, actually quite a few customers don't mind shape and size of produces if the quality is same. To select good fruits and vegs, farmers grow excess produces and spend much energy and logistics become complicated. We should accept such produces which are ugly but have standard quality. Mark explained my unfamiliar words and phrases and suggested the essential points of the article. Especially, I like "wonky" =not straight or level, sounds cool. "go a long way to..",,,etc. Thank you, Mark for the interesting topic as always. See you next time.

It's been a while to have Chris's lesson since we had Obon holidays, but I'm relieved that their English wasn't getting rusty. They enjoyed his lesson very much as usual. I'm happy that they are learning a lot from Chris.

自己紹介 Hi!

My name is Alison. I was born and raised in Belgium to Malaysian Chinese immigrants. Growing up in Belgium with a Chinese background has given me the chance to see the best of both worlds: while I am mostly familiar with "Western" society, my parents raised me to embrace my Asian roots by teaching me about Chinese rituals and society. This made me fall in love with exploring new cultures and part of this are the languages. I love learning new languages and I spend my time doing this as much as I can. While I am mostly familiar with Dutch and English, I also have a basic understanding of Mandarin Chinese and French. Other passions include traveling, photography, food....

I love meeting new people and I would be delighted to get to know you personally, so drop me a message anytime. I look forward to hearing from you! :)
趣味 Traveling, food, languages, photography
